Mission statement for Suffrage Coalition Inc.’s Project: Women’s Suffrage Museum – Events & Culture Center - Locate and preserve the epic history of the movement that brought democracy to the other half of our citizens. Use accurate, immersive storytelling to inspire future generations to value their rights and faithfully perform their duties as citizens.

To kick off Constitution Week (Sept. 17-23, 2026), the Women's Suffrage Museum hosted a special Webinar featuring Wanda Sobieski, President of the Suffrage Coalition/Women's Suffrage Museum - Events & Cultural Center and John L. Sobieski, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Tennessee

Wanda Sobieski
John L. Sobieski, Jr.

The webinar brought together two distinct perspectives on the U.S. Constitution and its continuing significance. Wanda Sobieski  examined the Constitution through the lens of the 19th Amendment, the generations-long movement for women’s suffrage and Tennessee’s pivotal place in that history. John Sobieski offered a legal perspective informed by his decades of teaching and scholarship in constitutional law and civil rights.

Together, the husband-and-wife team explored the connection between history and law and what the Constitution can teach Americans about their rights and responsibilities as citizens.
